La La Land Residence -

The goal for this assignment was to design the interior of a home that blends the Client and the Architect’s styles.   This project provided practice in blending two distinctly different styles to create a harmonious design while working with another designer’s style.  

Mia and Sebastian from the movie La La Land hired Richard Meier to design a home for them in Ranchos Palos Verdes,  Los Angeles.    Mia, employed as an actress, and Sebastian, a musician who specializes in jazz piano, have very different styles and tastes.  The project must follow Richard Meier’s style which includes the use of white, primary colors, large curtain walls, and solid geometry.
