Next HUB Steelcase Competition -

The Next HUB is an educational hub for online and continuing education students to meet up and have a physical site for learning.  The concept of the space was taken from the brick (solid) and glazed (void) facade of the building.  The color scheme is based in the colors of the existing building and is compromised of colors that help create a focusing and energizing space.  The Next HUB strives to recognize differences and merge them together as seamlessly as the building does, while also letting their distinct qualities shine.

In this project, the voids define, connect, and shape the solids (programmed spaces) while the solids provide the users with spaces to help define their education, connect with others, and shape their future.  Voids are the connection between the solids and this is shown through the space with circulation, materials, ceiling heights, and vertical connections.  The solids provide a variety of environments that are designed to connect people and encourage users to define their own education  pace and style by utilizing furniture, materials, technology, and space division.
